CLEO Unsubscribe Features
CLEO has been updated effective June 20, 2024 to meet new email compliance requirements. These requirements are being deployed by Google and Yahoo and are intended to cut down on unwanted email. Complying with these requirements helps ensure that emails sent from CLEO are deliverable to all your customers.
The information below applies only to individual or workflow emails sent from CLEO.
What is changing?
1) A one click unsubscribe link will appear in the footer of each email sent from CLEO. This link cannot be changed or removed. An example email is shown below with the link.
2) The email template header has been updated with one click unsubscribe code required by Google to email Gmail accounts. You won’t see any changes in CLEO, but any Gmail recipients who receive your emails from CLEO will see the one click unsubscribe label in their Gmail inbox.
3) CLEO has been updated so that when a recipient clicks the unsubscribe link, they are directed to a “you’re unsubscribed” landing page.
Then, the recipient's email preferences are updated in CLEO:
a) Email Active flag is unselected
b) Do Not Back-Market flag is selected
c) Customer Email is unselected in the Communications widget. (Since unsubscribed emails are deactivated, they will not show up in the widget, as shown below. If they were to be reactivated, the Customer Email checkbox would not be selected.)
d) Notes are added to the Change Log reflecting the changes made to the user’s email preferences. These notes allow you to identify that a customer changed their email preferences via the one click unsubscribe option.
Please note:
- Once an email address is inactivated, it is not searchable in Customer / Lead / Omni search.
- A customer’s email preferences can be updated manually if the recipient unintentionally unsubscribed. Simply reverse the actions taken in steps a-c above. However, re-subscribing a recipient’s email must be by their written request.
